Minor Remodel...The Puzzle

Today the painters returned to finish off the base boards. Brown paper, masking tape and a little surface prep has it all ready for their return tomorrow...the painters last day. As of tomorrow, the painting portion of this remodel...DONE!

Meanwhile, I focused my attention outside where the puzzle continued to come together,..

One piece at a time...

One extremely HEAVY piece at a time...

When I wasn't snapping pictures, I was in there with the crew, heaving and hoisting these monsters into their final resting place.

Looking good...

Yet, there is still so much to do...more pieces to erect...

More pictures to come, as they happen.

Minor Remodel...The Workshop...

It's been crazy around here...things are moving at break-neck speeds.

As of right now, the flooring team is saying that they should be done within a day. We already spoke with the painters and they are scheduled to return tomorrow to touch up the baseboards and any other little dings or dents left behind.

The living room (staging area)...done...

Gym...just about done...

 Office...just about done...

We now have a second crew on site...the carpenter team. Now the entry puzzle will be assembled.

Our garage is a dumping ground...

Our driveway...the Workshop...

It is all coming together.

The pieces are really heavy...

Then we hit a snag...Do you see that bracket, on the column nearest the garage? It is a foot too low.
We scratched our heads for a few hours and came up with a work-around. You'll have to wait and see how it comes out.

Minor Remodel...We Were Floored...

Day 2 of the flooring team invading our home. It is slowly coming together,

First, laying the pad...

 Then sorting the product...

He moved this pile of flooring 4 times so far...

Now they start putting the puzzle together...

Hallway is almost done.

What did the Sub Floor say to the Drywall?
I'm Board!
The Drywall answered back, "Me Too!"

Ha Ha Ha

Minor Remodel...The Rug Rats...

While waiting for the weather to clear up, so the contractors can get back to work outside, we decided to focus on a couple of interior projects; ones we had allocated for this time of year.

As mentioned in my last posting, we did a whole lot of drywall work, including re-texturing, priming, sanding and painting. They did not do the upstairs baseboards...and here is why; we are getting rid of all the carpet and laying down new floors.

Our Team Lead for the flooring crew is very artistic...

His entire body is a walking canvas...

They started the demo on Friday and within a short period of time (4+ hrs), they completely prepared the upstairs living room and hallway.

To complete the flooring job, we needed 66 cases of product, not to mention all of the other material that goes along with the job (padding, transition pieces, etc.)

Kerry and I officially moved downstairs to sleep for the duration of this project. Since they don't work on Saturday or Sunday, they will be back on Monday morning, with promises of being done by Wednesday...We'll See!

Finished pictures will be taken and shared during my next posting.

Once the flooring team is gone, the painting crew will return to finish off the base boards..At that point, all of our interior projects will be done...Or will they?

Minor Remodel...Shall We Play A Game?

The A-Team is on their 3rd day transforming our interior into a new and improved living space. As far as color selection goes, that's Kerry's department. Being color blind, it was mutually agreed (suggested) that I should "Focus on Other Areas"

As I mentioned yesterday, the structural components for the outside entrance way arrived from the Powder Coating facility.

Shall We Play A Game?

Look at the pieces below and see if you can figure out where they go...
(hint...the blueprints might help).

How did you do? Be honest now...

Minor Remodel...I've Got You Covered

While waiting for the outside entry remodel to continue, we decided to tackle some of the interior stuff we wanted to do.

All of the ceilings, walls. baseboards and trim are getting a face lift.

Our job was to go into each room and bring all of the furnishings into the middle so they can be covered up.

It only took one day to get everything masked and coated with primer.

Even the kitchen was under wraps.

Now, we leave the dirty work to the professionals.

Tomorrow the final cover up will be complete. These guys can't believe that Kerry and I are actually living here during all of this work. Why not? All we do is at bedtime we pull the plastic off of our bed and when we get up, the plastic gets replaced. Same in the kitchen, living room, etc.

I had no idea we had so many switch plates.

Apparently, these guys will be done in one week. Then the flooring team comes in to do their thing. I will post those details as they happen.

Oh,one more thing. I just heard that the metal pieces that will form our new entrance will be on site tomorrow. Now all we need to do is schedule the carpenter to come and put it all together. If you need a reminder of what our outside project looks like, go back to the first couple of Minor Remodel postings (Oct  2014)...
