Friday Sept 30
After a much needed
deep sleep, I finally got out of bed by 8:30 am, Kerry slept in until well after
9:00 am. Once I had her French press coffee ready, Kerry showed up for
her first cup of the day.
Rosie had surgery last
week and is stuck wearing one of those cone collar things until her sutures
come out. It has been just over a week since her procedure so today we took out
all but two stitches. We will give her a couple of more days before removing
the last two…then the collar can come off.
Tony had recommended a
few must-see places and one of them was the Green Salmon café. That would be our first stop of the day. We were done eating by
10:00 am and decided to walk around town, just to see things the way the locals
do. We saw some amazing surf, blow-holes and even drove some of the
off-the-beaten-path roads.
Since we were out and
about we decided to drive north to Newport. First stop, lunch at Mo’s. I
ordered a large wonderful bowl of clam chowder while Kerry selected
halibut fish tacos. Our late lunch was followed by a walk around town visiting
shops and yes, we even stopped for a photo-op with the local resident sea lion
population.
By time we got back to
the beach house we were beat. Naps and dinner were followed with a nice hot cup
of herbal tea and a movie (Fiddler on the Roof). Tomorrow we leave the comfort
of the beach house for a little hard core camping in Anacortes, Washington.
Phase 2 begins..
