Monday Oct 3
First thing we did
upon waking up was prepare a nice hot cup of French press coffee…there's
nothing like it. Then we showered and ate some breakfast. We were both feeling
better…Kerry still wasn't 100% and I was probably around 75%...that's a good
thing.
By the time we left the camp ground it was already past 11:00am. We headed to Craigdarroch Castle. I had seen this place many times when I use to live here so today Kerry visited on her own while I took Rosie on a walk-a-bout around the grounds…great photo ops. After an hour or so Kerry met us back at the van.
We then headed for the
next stop on our self guided tour…RedFish BlueFish. I ordered the chowder while
Kerry ordered the Pacific Cod fish and chips. They were both amazing. This
famous restaurant was nothing but a little shed on a dock with a never ending
line of hungry patrons.
While trying to figure
out how to use the parking system we ended up taking a receipt that showed we
paid for the spot behind us. It was supposed to be so easy. Push the green pay
button, enter your parking spot number, add time up to a max of 90 minutes then
swipe your cc, get the receipt and be done with it. As we paid and grabbed the
receipt, while walking away we noticed that the number was for the spot behind
us. We were both confused. Happily there was no ticket waiting for us after our
lunch.
Next to-do was to
drive through my old neighborhood, head for the water front and take in the
amazing view of Port Angeles and the Olympic Range across the Straight.
Spectacular!
Next stop was the
Christ Church Cathedral where we had a chance to gaze at the architecture, sit
and meditate and yes, even say a prayer.
The day was winding down and we had
one more stop to make. Off to the Fort
Rodd facility and the Fiacard Lighthouse. We climbed the lighthouse, took a
bunch of pics and finally decided to call it a day. We were back at our camp
site by 5:00pm.
Just after we got the
van prepped for the night, the first gentle rain since we arrived here began.
Tomorrow we go at it (Victoria) again. So many places to go, so much to
see…hopefully we will both be back to a 100% when we wake up tomorrow. We are
already talking about changing our schedule by not going to the west coast
(Tofino) and instead, head up to my brothers and chill there for the rest of
our vacation.
